Discipleship

Elaine is pleased to offer an interactive course on ‘Promoting Discipleship Growth in Your Congregation’!

In the Great Commission, Jesus told his followers to ‘go and make disciples’, yet how many churches are concentrating on that goal today? We add programs, stream our services, blend our music, but do we provide intentional discipleship growth opportunities?

This course will help you develop a means to promote intentional discipleship growth in your congregation. We will examine not only the ‘what’ and ‘how’ of what we do, but also the all important ‘why’. We will look at what it means to be a disciple and how we can connect spiritual gifts with discipleship. Using simple worksheets, you will be able to connect the stages of growth of a disciple with the characteristics of a disciple. You will also be able to see if there are gaps in available works of piety (internal) and works of mercy (external). You will have a roadmap to assess your current offerings in light of intentional discipleship. By the end of the course, you will have the tools you need to develop an intentional discipleship system to revitalize and grow your congregation.

This course is available is several formats:

  • Live, in person 2 hour workshop for your church community (email devotions@guidestep.org to discuss dates and cost)
  • Live, Zoom 2 hour workshop for your church community (email devotions@guidestep.org to discuss dates and cost)
  • Asynchronous online (you log on at your convenience during a set 2 week period) with group online posted discussions via www.beadisciple.com. At the successful completion of this course, you will receive a certificate and 1 CEU (continuing education unit). It is also approved by the United Methodist New England Conference as a Advanced Lay Servant Ministries Course.
